Akbar Imhotep, Storyteller and Puppeteer Atlanta’s own griot demonstrates storytelling’s universal appeal and teaching power. In African costumes or street clothes, he creates the magic of stories and puppetry for spellbound audiences. His tales and songs span both time and geography from Appalachia to Zimbabwe. With his tabletop theater, Akbar shares treasures of many cultures while teaching personal and social values. His two new presentations are, Dr. Martin Luther King: Born to Do Great Things and stories from South America. He offers workshops and residencies in storytelling and in making and using puppets.
